Structural building fabric investigations can be undertaken on historic school buildings to allow upgrading and repurposing through ‘Constructive Conservation’. Our ground investigation and technical consultancy teams are also on hand to advise on ground related risk items.
Most recently we worked with Croxley Danes to construct a new secondary school on a greenfield site, alongside a a Multi Use Games Area. The project was complex as we identified a major geotechnical risk with a probable dissolution feature. Subsequently, we undertook more investigations and demarcated a “no build” area at the school. Whilst this ultimately led to some redesign of the scheme layout, the potential consequences of not doing so could have been far more severe and costly.
